Cork Pops

Last Friday, the 6th November, the 5th and 6th class went to a children's concert entitled 'Cork Pops' in the University of Limerick. We had been preparing for weeks and we were excited to perform with different schools from all around Ireland. The orchestra, led by Evelyn Grant played various classical songs from composers such as George Frederic Handel and we were really impressed by their talents. Keith Hanley, the winner of the 'Voice of Ireland' in 2013, also came on stage to perform a couple of songs.  He was a very impressive singer and deserved the big round of applause he received at the end. Afterwards, a DJ who has toured in places such as Ibiza and Miami came on stage. He played Calvin Harris’ song ‘How Deep is Your Love’ before showing us how he makes a remix. He created a remix of ‘Cheerleader’ which is a popular track from the artist Omi. It was a really enjoyable experience and we all had great fun. After the concert, the bus dropped us off at the People’s Park where we had our lunch to round off a great day. Thanks to our teachers Mr. O'Neill and Mrs. Aherne for bringing us and organising a great day. Special thanks also to Paul Browne who accompanied us on the day.
